So I'm having a problem. I got a new dell computer,e verything is workingw ell, but it has no applications key. So when I'm in programs like Sonar, I can not get to the context menu. I wonder what alternative ways I have of reaching these menus? Maybe I have to press the FN key with another key or something. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron N5010.

What about shift-f10 or your screen reader's way of simulating a right mouse click?
Thanks

Shift +F10 works for me; I used that until I eventually found the applications key on my keyboard. I'm not sure whether this is a Windows command or a JAWS command, so this may not work if your not using JAWS.

What about routing your mouse pointer (jaws cursor with jfw) to your main cursor (pc cursor with jaws) and pressing your right mouse button on the keyboard (third over on the top row of the numpad for jfw).

THX. Shift F10 works, didn't know about that command.

Is there a way to change that command? LIke, is that a windows specific command? Or is it a JFW one.

It is a Windows command, I am 99% sure, i.e. there is no easy way to change it.

Can't jaws simulate key presses? If you use jaws you could just add a keystroke in keyboard manager that'd simulate shift+f10 instead of having to mess about with other stuff. This would only work when jaws was active obviously.
Otherwise I suppose you could remap the applications key to something else, like a key you never use anyway. even though it's not on the keyboard physically windows should still remember if if it gets a message to press it.
Am I talking complete rubbish here?

yeah shift F10 is a windows command. also on desktop keyboards the key between alt and control on the right side of the spacebar is also the applications key don't know if your dell keyboard has that key.

Have you tried both sides of the keyboard? I've never seen a computer desktop or laptop without this key. Interesting. Also is Jaws set to laptop layout?
